How do I check if an investment firm is licensed in Ethiopia?

Only deal with firms licensed by ECMA. Check the official licensee list and confirm the exact name — ECMA publishes public warnings about unlicensed operators.

Before you give money to any broker, dealer, investment bank or adviser, confirm it is licensed by the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA). Capital-market services may only be provided by firms ECMA has licensed.

Check the firm's exact name against ECMA's official licensee list. If a firm isn't on the list, treat any offer with caution and report it to ECMA — the Authority regularly issues public warnings about entities operating without a licence.

The Directory on this site mirrors the official list (investment banks, securities dealers, advisers and trading members) with each firm's contacts, so you can cross-check quickly.
